Subcommittee on Mapping

The PSTA Board of Directors established six technical subcommittees and one of these is focused on mapping for public safety. The goal of this Mapping Subcommittee was to review current mapping standards and trends in public safety mapping technology and make specific recommendations to help drive capability and innovation in public safety.  Subcommittee members then identified gaps and overlapping or conflicting standards that may create potential problems for public safety agencies who are using mapping technology to provide the framework for connecting, managing, and sharing IoT data between other technology systems, both internally within agencies, and externally to share information with other public safety stakeholders. Subcommittee on Cybersecurity

The Public Safety Technology Alliance’s (PSTA) goals are published on its homepage along with the tagline, “Driving common adoption of industry standards and compliance for the public safety user community.” The PSTA does not function as a standards body; rather, its work leverages existing standards and/or best practices and develops recommendations using those resources via technical subcommittees comprised of both public safety and industry PSTA members. These jointly developed recommendations are then presented to both industry and the public safety community to enable faster delivery of compliant and interoperable open standards solutions to the public safety market.

Subcommittee on LMR/LTE Interoperability

The Public Safety Technology Alliance’s (PSTA) goals are published on its homepage along with the tagline, “Driving common adoption of industry standards and compliance for the public safety user community.” It is important to understand that this tagline does not mean the PSTA has any aspirations of becoming yet another standards body. It will start with standards as they exist and develop recommendations based on those standards as developed by a subcommittee made up of industry and public safety members. These jointly developed recommendations will then be presented to both industry and the public safety community to enable faster delivery of compliant and interoperable open standards solutions to the public safety market. The PSTA Identity Subcommittee is made up of industry and public safety members. These jointly developed recommendations are now being presented to both industry and the public safety community to enable faster delivery of compliant and open standards-based identity solutions for public safety agencies.
